HOW I REMEMBER CARPAL BONES OF HAND IN AN X-RAY
The ANATOMICAL POSITION I USE IS THE RIGHT.
APPLY THIS TO THE DORSAL or LEFT DORSAL or PALMAR ASPECT WHEN YOU GET THE HANG OF IT.
THE RADIUS IS ON THE LATERAL ASPECT OF THE ANATOMICAL POSITION.
TWO CARPAL BONES ARE ATTACHED TO THE RADIUS.
IDENTIFY THE SCAPHOID AND THE LUNATE
WRITE DOWN THE FOLLOWING:
1. TQ-- TRIQUETRUM
2. TPM -TRAPEZIUM as in PM
3.TZD -TRAPEZOID as in ZEDD-MUSIC BAND
FROM YOUR MEDIAL SIDE or LEFT -TRIQUETRUM
ABOVE WILL BE THE HAMATE WITH THE HOOK OF HAMATE
CENTRALLY-CAPITATE
LATERALLY or OUTERMOST TRAPEZOID ADJACENT TO TRAPEZIUM REMEMBER ZD BEFORE PM

PNEMONIC :

The carpal bones are arranged in two rows of four bones each. This is the pnemonic I used to remember them.

Proximal Row (Lateral to medial)
She - Scaphoid
Looks - Lunate
Too - Triqueral
Pretty - Pisiform

Distal Row - (Lateral to medial)

Try - Trapezium
To - Trapezoid
Charm - Capitate
Her - Hamate.
