For a conceptual understanding, its better to refer to hooks like shaw's or refer back to anatomy and physiology of the subject. This will also make the subject intresting.
Once well versed in it a small textbook yet very helpfull may be

Shaw's or a short manual like lewlyn jones
For facts one can always use some notes or dutta. Notes probably as you might revise them next yr for pg prep as well.

P. S Ive heard from consultants that dutta has many mistakes
