Quick Scroll FAQ: J1 or H1B - which is more practical? better? easier? 08.19.05 (3 years ago) #1

hi there!

If you travelled to America for residency, which visa did you travel on?

Which is more practical or better or easier? What do you think?

Experts, please give me some ideas.

Thanks.
Kanna

hi visa is better iff you want an easier life after residency as it gets easily converted to green card but with the ji visa you have to do some rural job to get a ji waiver and then get your green card which is a bit difficult these days

Hi Bobbys72!!!

Thanks for your response.

Can you tell me please why you think it is difficult to get the J1 waiver???

I thought this way might easier. Otherwise one must pass step 3 which is a bit tough, I heard.
What do you think about this??

Hi Bobbys72!!!

One more thing is they won't issue H1B visa unless you get a "letter of need" from the ministry of health.
Do you think/did you hear that any US embassies issued the H1B without this letter???

letter of need is required for j1 vsia and not h1 visa but that is not a problem, but in my opinion having some difficulty getting a h1 is better so as to avoid all the legal hassles after residency to get j1 waiver .

F1 visa is a good way to get in the US... you can work on this visa after you finish the course and can easily convert it to the H1 visa
Another option is the B1/B2 visa

H1 has had it's own problems but was better if one was to stay and eventually get the green card. They seem to be changing certain rules there and making it difficult for H1 people to move on to the green card.
For an H1 you need the Step 3.

J1 is good if you wish to train in the UK and move elsewhere. I suppose, on a J1 you can get better universities.

But the best way to get to the US is to marry a American citizen!
