Quick Scroll International Doctors Induction Courses (IDIC) - Information 09.01.05 (2 years ago) #1

Quote:
International Doctors Induction Courses (IDIC)
Induction courses are designed to support international doctors new to working in the UK. The courses provide an in-depth cultural introduction and help medical graduates gain employment in this country.

The courses support and raise the confidence of doctors who are living and working in an environment, which may be very different from their own. Attendance is not mandatory but a “confirmation of UK induction” certificate is awarded on completion of the course. This can be presented to Trust’s Educational Supervisors. International Doctors Induction Courses (IDIC) is a desirable qualification, which will indicate to employers that a certain level of familiarity with the practice of medicine in this country has been achieved.

Equally, Trusts can be secure in the knowledge that their international employees are confident in all aspects of medical practice in the UK.

The scheme is open to all non-UK medical graduates with little or no knowledge of the UK or the NHS. To be entered on to a course a doctor must have:

* Passed the PLAB I & II certification or
* Been granted exemption from PLAB by the GMC (i.e are eligible for Limited Registration)

The courses are run regularly by postgraduate deaneries throughout the year.

Deaneries will also provide accommodation where required and all reasonable travel expenses are refunded. Receipts will be required.

Courses last 2-4 days and are held in various locations throughout the UK, including:

Birmingham, Bristol, Hull, Isle of Wight, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Peterborough, Sheffield and Slough.

If you are interested in attending one of the courses, please contact us on:

Telephone: 0845 120 3164

Quick Scroll I say go for it 09.01.05 (2 years ago) #2

I had attended the IDIC at Bath last year

Imagine staying at a 4 star hotel for 5 days with all expenses paid for including my travel.

Lovely food, great lectures, use of the gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room

And best of all tips on how to write your cv, interview preparation and mock interviews!

Certainly value for your money ( It would cost more than your PLAB2 fees)

Well the course looks fantastic but good luck to anyone that actually manages to get through to them...

The leaflet tells you to call the number above
The number has a recorded message saying check the website
The website says send an email
The email isn't answered....

Anyone attended an IDIC recently?

It would be very helpful if someone could write down details of advice and information shared there.

Thanks.
