I have heard that IMGs usually do not get into residency during the match, ie. they have chances only during the Post Match Scramble! Is it true??![/list]

Probably not true.
Dozens of IMG's I know have all got residency positions through the Match.
In the years of Pre Match (pre 2004)... many used to get thro in the pre match.
Only those interested in a particular speciality and a limited geographical area might have to take their chances in the post match scramble.
