This is a medical graduate from India. Sir I would highly greatful from core of my heart if anyone of you all intelligent readers kindly answer my long awaited query:

I due to certain unfortunate unavoidable circumstances could not fair well in my 1st professional mbbs exam and eventually failed and had to repeat one year but after that failure I was a college topper throughout the mbbs curriculum with record-breaking grades. Sir, will I be eligible to sit for:

A. USMLE exam and apply for ecfmg certification
B. If yes, will it affect my prospects of getting a good position (residency)?
C. Does the programme directors consider only the score made in the USMLE while selecting students for residency or they also look at the performance made by the candidate during his entire medical school curriculum?
D. Can I be eligible to sit for other foreign level exams like amc, PLAB etc., if yes will my failure effect my prospects
E. Am I eligible for PGI Chandigarh?
F. In what other ways can this failure affect my future prospects?

thankx in advance and wish u all the very best for all your future ventures

I do not know about the other exams but for the PLAB you have to check whether you medical school is listed by WHO. if it is the case then you can sit for the exam. however to be in the safe side check with GMC in london.

hey doctoramittal....

congrats on ur amazing scores.... dont worry... u are elligible to appear for all exams, both national and international as long as ur university/college is recognised by WHO(international) and MCI(india).

since u've done so well throughout your mbbs curriculum it wont matter that u didnt clear in the first year.... keep working hard and i'm sure u'll do well in the future too.....

All the best!
