IN FACT ,in IDM , its postulated that increased fetal levels of insulin interfere wth incorporation of choline into lecithin producing deficiency in SATURATED PHOSPHOTIDYL CHOLINE(SPC)in lungs and amniotic fluid. therfore estimation of amniotic fluid SPC is mandatory for assessing lung maturity in IDM.
