hello everybody,
Anyone interested in bioinformatics then this is the best start. Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, has instituted BINC examination and the qualifying candidates will be awarded a certificate.
Eligibility: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Science, Pharmacy, Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary and Medical Sciences, Ayurveda, Homeopathy from recognised Indian Universities and Institutions. Post graduates and Ph.D. in above mentioned disciplines are also eligible.
The syllabus includes Biology, General maths and Chemistry, IT.
It is not that difficult 1 month preparation is enough. If u r unknown with bioinformatics and IT then online notes are available and online tools r also available, IT can also be learned by self.If U R really interested in making ur carrier in bioinformatics then this is the best opportunity. If have any questions regarding notes and bioinformatics are free to ask.
17 oct is last date for application and information regarding this exam and syllabus can be found in
So think about it.
Bye

I read about a similar course in IBAB b'lore.
The site says graducates start at 10-12 K but changes depending on where u join. Also PhD is another option. But what is the scope. Does anyone know?

truly speaking i just heard abt IBAB b'lore that it is really gud and offering placements too but personally never came to know about it. I have also done my pg dip in bioinfo but didnt find it so interesting in india so prefer not to pour high money on this courses bcoz india is just budding in this and institutes do promise a lot but many times it ditches. Well this not alone my experience but many of friends too even my professor.
Well this is the condition in india therefore i have planned for abroad for msc bioinfo.
lets see wats up there
If any one interested to know my views abt scope for bioinfo reply to this we can discuss in detail

yes KP. I'd like to know about it. I went to the site of IBAB n they have the student profile.....but no email ids. Iwanted to know how it is ........the work atmosphere, renumeration, career prospects, future paths that can be taken etc. Since its a multidisciplinary course it does sound intersting....but is it so?
