brief analysis of the options (again icon_eek.gif )

a) true. but so does 0.5 and 1% bupivacaine. widely used minimal concentration is 0.125%
b) false. bupivacaine may be used for IVRA but not recommended over lidocaine. bupivacaine has greater cardiotoxicity and does not offer any advantage over lidocaine. the analgesia duration in IVRA is linked to the isolated limb circulation rather than the duration of action of the LA
c) false. methaemoglobinaemia is caused by prilocaine

a topical prilocaine and lidocaine

allergy to lidocaine rules out the choice a)
bupivacaine may be used and is easily available
prilocaine may be used (availability ?)
no Anaesthesia is not humane
