AIIMS nov 03 asked--

an investigator wants to evaluate associatn b/n maternal intake of iron and [yes/no] with low birth wt [<2500 />2500]of new born babies.he collects relevant data from 100 mothers and new boerns.most appropriate statistical test is??

ans to first is unpaired t test .cos its a quanitative attribute.

and to second is chi square cos its a qualitative attribute.

i am not able to put into this frame some scenario in which ans would be ANOVA.can someone pls help-so that it wd be easy to retain this concept icon_idea.gif

they are correct

since in first there is only one data to study it has to be t-test,since the test is being done on different woman the test is unpaired t-test

in second one the association is being done with low birth weight and not with normal weight the answer shud be chi-square test..

thanks both of u.
i ve abs no confusion that ans are right.
i was just not able to think how they can mould this qn to make the ans ANOVA.

for the time being--till i actually come across such a qn-all that is to be retained is that more than two variables are tested.

thanks again
