paired is used when

X is measured
then we add the thing whose effect is seen and then we again measure the X now..

so here
BW is measured without iron
iron is given
again the BW is measured!

so even i feel paired!!

do tell us if its right and
pls correct if its wrong!!!!

welll.....thats a hypothetical doubt that cropped up in my mind!

when we measure two different groups--for one parameter -its unpaired t test.
like bith wt in two groups of babies-one with iron intake and one without iron intake in the mother.

here also we are measuing two groups-2 seperate babies --but the intervention is done on the same lady----so i am almost confident its a paired test.

like usually qns have--measure -----then intervene ---then measure again in the same person--then its a paired test.

but here we are measuring two babies as an out come of intervention...
so means the same ,right ?

thats what i wanted to check .
lets see if someothers help too.....

we are looking for effect not on mother but
on babies.
so the subject are 2 in number
we are comparing effects on two different
persons(babies)
its like giving iron to one subject and withholding it from other and checking the effect
so as manpreet said
"when we measure two different groups--for one parameter -its unpaired t test. "

actually i dont agree by u drprasu--if u are implying that the ans is unpaired!

we are comparing the consequences of one intervention on the lady.

how does it make differencethen--that we are doing it on two babies?--they are just projecting the result of what we want to study--like iron therapy in pregnancy.

do u agree with me now??
