intravenous injection 10 minutes
subcutaneous injection 4 hours
intramuscular injection 2 hrs.

here plasma insuling is given so we can assume it to be plain insulin. which can be given only iv. so i will go for b 20-40 minutes

Is the plain insulin same as regular insulin? If yes then it can be given iv, im and sc.

yes chand can be given but now in clinical practise it is never given s.c or i.m actually it is now only used for dka.(therotically canbe given)and remember we have to choose only one answer here.

another point is that if they mena plasma inslin means unbound insulin then see guyton 9th edi page 972

when insulin secretes in unbound form it has a plasma half life that averages only about 6 minutes and is completely cleared in 10-15 minutes.
so after reading this lines from guyton, i think they have asked about half life of unbound natruall insulin that is normally secreted in body.

and now i thinkanswer is a.

sorry to intervene!yes it is plain insulin and t1/2 is 3 to 5 min,,,this qn has been asked twice in two dif tests!
