hi,
m planning to write MRCS part 1 next year after completing my internship in may 06.it has been recently announced that ALL 3 PARTS CAN be taken india at british council kolkata from next year onwards. i want to know which all hospitals will then have the 24 mths training facility in india/ calcutta? or do we still need to "ve the BST 4rm the UK before taking the next 2 parts? can we then complete the entire MRCS exams , including the BST in india itself and then write PLAB n go to the uk?

I don't think there are any designated hospitals for the 24 months training.

All DNB posts in General Surgery... I believe... are recognized for the MRCS by the RCS Edinburgh.
Also a MS General Surgery may be considered equivalent to Basic Surgical Training.

One should be able to complete the entire BST and the MRCS exams in India itself.

You would get exemption from the PLAB if you obtain the MRCS diploma.

Hope this helps. All the best.
