Water- washed disease is one whose transmission will be significantly reduced following the increase in the volume of water used for hygiene purposes irrespective of the quality of the water.
Water is an aid to hygiene and cleanliness here. There are three types of
water-washed diseases: Faeco-oral type (same as the intestinal diseases mentioned
above, and here quality and availability of water for hand washing are important for
prevention); eye and SKIN infections (related to poor hygiene, water quantity more
important than quality in prevention, e.g. bacterial SKIN sepsis, scabies , fungal infection and trachoma); infections carried by mites and lice (louse-borne epidemic typhus, louse borne relapsing fevers, prevention is by increasing quantity of water used for personal hygiene).

also know about other options :

In the transmission of water based diseases the are pathogen spends part of its life cycle in a snail or aquatic animal, called an intermediate host. All water-based diseases are parasitic worms, and the most important are schistosomiasis and guinea worm.
Guinea worm infection occurs when infective Cyclops in water are drank by persons who are pressed for potable water. To prevent guinea worm infection it is therefore important to ensure that water is made available to people and also prevent them from using surface water that may be infected.

Water-related insect vector transmitted diseases are those spread by insects that breed in water (e.g. malaria, yellow fever, filariasis, dengue fever, oncho) or breed near water (sleeping sickness).

Water borne disease is one that is transmitted when pathogen in water is drunk by man or animal leading to infection. It is mostly by the faeco-oral route. Examples are cholera, other diarrhoea diseases, typhoid, hepatitis A, dysentery and polio.
