AGE
1) fibrous dysplasia : F>>M
adamantinoma : M=F

PROGRESSION
2) fibrous dysplasia : stops growing at bone maturity
adamantinoma : continues to grow in adult life

SITE
3) fibrous dysplasia : MC site femur
adamantinoma : MC site tibia

PAIN
4) fibrous dysplasia are usually painless
adamantinoma are usually a/w pain

METASTASIS
5) adamantinoma on occasions can mets to L.N. and lungs
no mets in fibr. dys.

HISTOLOGY
6) fibrous dysplasia : metaplastic woven bone in fibrous stroma
( alphabet soup pattern)
adamantinoma : ephithelial or angiod tissue in fibrous stroma

TREATMENT
7) fibrous dysplasia : Tt usually not recquired since it itself burns
out after puberty. patho # recq.fixation.
adamantinoma : Tt by wide resection

thanks a lot drprasu.

maheshwari says that adamantinoma is common in 10-35 yrs age grp.and fibrous dysplasia in 20-30 yrs.
is this correct?
this info does not fit in many qns.

both are common in same age gr.(codt says around 2nd and 3rd dec.) so this is not really a differentiating feature

according to emedicine

adamantinoma is after age 20 years

and fibrous dysplasia two third are after 10 years
and can be seen after 20years also.
