most of the guides mentions amacrine cells.
but after detail reading page 649 guyton 9th edition.
it is ganglion cells.
answe is ganglion cells.

read lateral inhibition and colour pathway.
horizontal cell inhibtion and bipolar cell excitationof ganglion cells help in detecing contrast.

and color perception starts in retina at the level of ganglion cells. read guyton and coreect me if i am wrong.
amacrine cells are just interneuronthey just hel in begining analysis of the visula cells.

sorry guys actually i misread the question.i read as colur vison but yes in luminocity it is amacrine cells again see page 647 gyuton 9th edi. it says some amacrine cells firest at onset of visal stimulus other fire at offset. and some to both when light is turned on or off ,signalling simply a change in illllumination irrespetcive of direct.sorry for misreading the question.when colur vision is asked.it is ganglion cells but yes for luminocity it is amacrine cells.once again sorry for misreading the question.
