Analysis: UAE Job Situation Scenario

I came to this forum to find some information about UAE jobs but I guess I need to brief everyone about whats happening.
I have passed MOH and been able to find an employer to work as a General Practitioner. But dont get excited this is all you can get here.
For all of you who are freshers willing to come to UAE for MRCS
/MRCP
FORGET IT GUYS. All the Goverment and Big Private Hospitals employ the doctors from Europe and USA and the jobs are not even posted in UAE .I was able to find jobs for major govrement hospitals on Canadian website and few other European sites and they are still there but asians are not invited unless they have Foreign Post Graduations Check out the website for IHR Canada
i know the exact site but caanot post it due to RXPG rules. The calibre of the doctors employed in such hospitals is so high that one can easily say the most elite of foreign specialists are currently working in UAE big hospitals. Check out the profiles of these doctors for example in emirates hospital website.
So far i have not seen any advertisements for training posts , they may be there but are not advertised as such. Without house job I believe one cannot even sit for MOH exam. I think a person can come and appear for MRCS
/P exams and then return to your own country for training.
Now i have 5 years experience as a GP and hence after my MOH am evaluated as a Full GP. On the other hand if you have 2 years experience you will be evaluated as Start GP. I was offered almost 15 jobs BUT they were all in small clinics and all employers offered me 5000 AE Dirhams for my experience,on the other hand if you are a start GP the pay will be more less. In UAE a reasonable accomodation will cost you around 2000 AED any where if you go for a shared accomodation this can go down to 1000 AED or even less . But it is upto you to decide if you want to go for this life style I being a married man cannot go for shared one. I will live with my family and so will save some money. Now the school fee of a child is from 500-1000 AED. Keep all this in mind. I guess a GP like me after 5 years will probably be married and a young bachelor can have some savings but no progress being towards his career would be made, because one can pass Royal College exams while here but how will you complete your training for Part 2 and thereon.
The doctors holding Diplomas and Post Graduations have better chances in terms of job and pay prospects because they are offered more pay.
Try to learn Arabic Language because the staff can barely speak and understand English and it is utterly frustrating to communicate with them. Infact few of them can be quite rude at times.
Some of the doctors well settled here in UAE are the ones that came here 5-6 years back now things are getting quite different here.
No discouragement but I have even heard of doctors attempting MOH for 15 times. As far as preparation I had studied for PLAB
1 and that has helped me pass MOH it is quite difficult prepare it like PLAB
from Oxford Handbooks.
Now all this is my personal point of view and my experiences.Things could be different and I invite others to correct me if I am wrong. If there is some out there who can prove me wrong PLEASE BE MY GUEST and inform me about good prospects of being in this country otherwise things dont appear bright to me here.

Sorry to disturb your plans but the biggest problem i have found in UAE Med Council is no one knows the exact policy When i was appearing for MOH Viva I met few doctors with 2 years experience But before that when I was submitting my documents for exam in Ministry of Health at that time the lady accepting the documents refused a doctor from India with 2 years experience saying that he did not had enough experience then how come the doctors i met were appearing for MOH Viva which is after written. I would say to be on safe side one should have atleast 2 years experience after house job because that could allow you to have some luck getting a job in private sector like a Start GP If you can do a Diploma in 2 years that would allow you to sit in exam of a Specialist Registration in MOH much better than GP in terms of pay. Specialist registration has further grades which are given according to your experience again plus qualification. Now one doctor told me (Its only one persons opinion) that even if one gets a job in Goverment Sector you can easily get fired if the administration wants to give job to a person they like for example an Arab person so there is no job guarantee. Remember one thing when you come to Arab Countries THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES OR RIGHTS .

hi,
i believe that no one could argue hardy regarding job situation in u.a.e,
i learned this the hard way ,
i got M.O.H. registration after passing the exam , i agree it wasn't an easy exam but also not impossible to pass, i got registered as start G.P because i lack the 3 years exp and ever since my chances for getting job here were compromised, as the private sectors is forbidded by the ministry from hiring start g.p even if you passed their interviews (like i did, al-noor, al-salam hospitals ,etc..)
so wat is left for you is to look for govermental jobs which is sadly overcrowded with job appliers with many years as g.p, then the only staring doctors you would see here are local emiraie ppl.
by the way i am a doctor of arab nationality born and grew up in u.a.e and this didn't give me an advantage over other doctors either arabs or asians
here the priority is for local emirate, then western qualifications and at the end it comes the turn of arabs/asian specialist .

I am a newcomer in UAE but I guess if u can attain the registration of ENT
specialist in UAE then u have good chances in private sector as i am not sure about goverment sector.Depending upon whether u get grade a or b specialist the pay will be offered accordingly. According to my very wild guess u should atleast get 6-7000 AED plus commision on no of patients seen when they exceed a certain amount. It may be wrong but its my guess.

Advise on MOH interview

I am preparing for the MOH interview exam and I am a bit confused, is interview and oral exam same thing? I understand from your message tht they will judge my GP grade from the exam but I dont know if interview is different from oral. Secondly I was planning to give the exam on 08th March but I believe that there was a date on 4th Jan as well, do u know if the exam took place on 4th? since the sheikh passed away the same day?
I would be grateful to you for answers to all the questions above.

Hi I can only inform u about the interview and oral exam dilemma as I dont know about the exam dates. As far as interview is concerned oral exam and interview is the same thing prepare for oral exam it is not an interview although they call it so. Secondly I dont think your grade as a GP will be decided on oral exam it will be decided on your previous experience If it is 5 years u would be allowed to practice in private sector if less then probably allowed to practice in goverment sector. I hope this would clear your doubts. Best of Luck
