Quick Scroll FAQ: How to study smaller subjects ? 11.15.05 (2 years ago) #1

everybody i guess studies all the major subjects from the standard books. but what about smaller subs like say radiology . is it important to study them from proper text books like say sutton.... or are other smaller review books enuf to get a good rank in AIIMS ? any advice for other small subjects like skin, psychi , anaesth etc ?

Radiology from chapman is good enough...but it is given in a "mug up to remember" style! icon_smile.gif U can write down imp points from imp topics & pin them up in the main book, so that u read 'em up with the topic itself. Many answers to q from AIIMS /aipg are there in chapman.

Skin..I cld find answers for almost all of them in harri except good ol' leprosy. icon_sad.gif I myself wld like to ask if anyone here knows where to read leprosy from. icon_smile.gif

Psychi: If u have time definitely read kaplan & saddock. If not niraj ahuja is good. But he doesnt mention the DSM - IV criteria for the diagnosis of the dis. That is just one of the many points where saddock proves to be superior.

Anaesthesia : Again if u have enuf time, u can go for lee. If not..Ajay yadav is a good option. But then Anaesthesia is gettin tougher these days.

I think other boosk like CROSS & SARP...guess all of them have the books and each one has different opinion abt them. icon_smile.gif

These are completely my views. icon_smile.gif I myself wld like to know what others read/ recommend. Esp those who have secured a rank in AIPG/ AIIMS

yeh i had the same books in mind as well . wht i think is that the top ranks are decided on the basis of these subs who have comparatively less weightage coz u have to expect that almost everybody will get the things asked from harrison an the other major books. besides if u put these 3 or 4 subs together they carry a substantial ammnt of marks . plus if u have a look at the refrences in say in asish gupta etc ul ull find refrences even from say grainger an allison. i think thats where the top ranks are decided. have any solution ?

exactly!! i totally i agree with u.. definitely cannot afford ignoring teh smal subjects. Well all i can say abt grainger...HUGE BOOK!! icon_smile.gif

I think the rest that i have mentioned surely match with ashish amit And MK..wat say? except skin..i suppose. But then, as i said... atleast i cld find the answers to most of the q's in harri

I wld surely like to know what is best for radiotherapy. Any idea???

lets see what others have to say. icon_smile.gif

All the best to u

funny q agnish!! icon_lol.gif haven't u seen the movie matrix?? I'ma girl by d way

I'm talkin abt the smaller kaplan & saddock. Which will cost u somethin arnd 500!! definitely not the 7000 bucks waala!! Didnt my previous post tell u : "no big books strictly!!!" icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

this one wld be a big burden on the brain+pocket.

Roxburgh..i really dunno. As i said i cld find almost all answers to skin q in harri (except leprosy! the topic still evades me sometimes!!) So frankly speaking i didnt bother to dig into other books. So i wld rather not give any opinion.

Agnish,

well good that u watch many movies... i can ask u "hey what hapened in the sequel of that movie?" icon_lol.gif

Yes neeta parischa has been creeping up a lot. But then as i already said I really didnt bother to dig into other books of skin! icon_smile.gif So parischa, rooks...i have no idea!!! icon_smile.gif yeah roxburgh i know is okay size. not small, but not huge either. I had read some text for skin during the dermat post...but that didnt help in the entrances!! icon_sad.gif

Talkin abt saddock...well the smaller one is definitely smaller than the bigger one!! icon_smile.gif Its all abt time actually...or so i feel!!

Al the best. And oh...enjoy the movie icon_smile.gif
