Hi,
It's important to achieve a good knowledge of the basic sciences relevant to clinical Paediatrics
. The recommended texts are useful but also try to attend a course specifically designed for the paediatric part 1 examination.
There are a lot of training centers around the world. Can you tell me exactly your place and your contact please.
By the way, I know only the training centers in London , but I’ll try to search for the other places .
regards ,
Abdullah

hello.. from whatever i have heard, the pastest course in london is best, tho very expensive. again, it is a very intensive 5 day course, and at the end of it there are no guarantees that ull actually pass, but it helps alot in preparation. i have not taken it myself, but a friend who has taken it recommends it.. altho he cleared paper 1 A, he missed paper B by just 1%...so i guess in the end it all comes down to luck! hope ive helped a bit

hi...no i have not taken the MRCPCH
yet..am planning to in may 2006 hopefully..i did my mbbs in 2004 from pakistan ( tho i lived in uae when i was younger) then did a yr of house job. i took PLAB
2 last month and cleared thankfully. now im back in pakistan and will hopefully start preparing for MRCPCH
soon. i feel its best to start early because from what i hear they are making the exam increasingly difficult. when r u planning for it? jan or may? i was considering taking some online course or revision tests later on but still need to find out more abt those..any info will be welcome.

well priya, to answer ur questions.. the reason i opted for PLAB
is because i feel the standard and quality of post graduate training in pakistan is not upto the mark, and even if it is good in some places, there is alot of corruption in our system, and i feel i would much rather do my specialization from abroad. USMLE
route seemed too long, with no guarantees for visa even after clearing all the other hurdles, so thats why i opted for the uk way. as far as PLAB
goes, well u can get alot of info abt it on the rxpg forums.. they helped me tremendously for PLAB
1 and 2. however, i must say that its not as easy as some ppl make it seem..again its not as difficult as it may seem either! i thought my PLAB
2 exam was quite tough and i felt the mock exams i took at the training centre were far easier..yet by the grace of god i passed in the first go. however, i think 1 month is a minimum period in which to prepare for PLAB
1 and 2 each, preferably a bit longer for PLAB
1 so u get more time to practise past questions. that really helps.
again,as far as advising u for or against PLAB
, the main problem as u must be knowing these days is the difficulty in securing a job at SHO level in uk. with the introduction of the new foundation program, it has further complicted the job shortage for people like us who have already done 1 year of house job training. again, a lot of it boils down to confidence and above all, LUCK! if u feel uve got that, as well as the determination, dedication and will to persevere even if u have some diffculties on the way, then go with it! having ur husband there makes things much easier for u believe me, as i am facing alot of opposition from my parents as i am single and they dont want to send me alone for so long in such a way. however, if u feel that u will get a job in UAE and u are planning to return there soon, then go for the MOH or whatever. even i was considering that seriously but as i dont have enough information abt the job situation in UAE, i felt PLAB
was best. now that i have already set out on this track, its useless to waver. rather i need to focus and give it my best shot. the rest is upto god! good luck for ur MRCPCH
. just keep doing as many past questions as u can. and please advise me too..i havent even started preparing for it as yet!! how long do u think i needs to be properly prepared?
