First let me say I share your passion for genetics.Let me give you the information i have:
* Human Genetics is offered as a DM super speciality right now ( may 2005) only at one place in india. I dont know its exact location but its name is Sanjay Gandhi Institute i think in lucknow.
* Abroad the prospects are as always much brighter.... as always again getting a visa is problematic
* In USA its offered mostly at speciality board level after a residency in IM or PEDS oR some other things
Refer careermd for further details.

Now to Rxpg team my question is
As genetics is an upcoming speciality in india can visas in that field be granted more easily if goverment of india recommends ...........as First aid for step 1 by Vikas bhusan says there is such provision.

sorry if i am asking the right question at wrong place.

Hello

I would request some more guidance on this issue. I wanted to know what are the career prospects in this field for medicos outside research.

I was quite fascinated by Gene therapy but turns out it is going through a very rough patch right now.

I wanted to ask , what are the prospects for clinical genetics in UK , if a medico was to do a Msc in Human Molecular genetics.

These are few links I came across -

M.S in Gene Therapy at Upenn

MSc in Human Molecular Genetics at Imperial College London

Msc in Biomedical Cause of Disease at Sheffield Hallam

I would be grateful for any guidance on this subject.

regards

Rishi

finding information related to scope of clinical genetics is very limited..i think tat subham and others would have already realized tat by the meagre amount of replies tat this topic has been receiving...i am doing my final year medicine..not a person interested in clinical practice.i wanted to do research..but though i have tried hard information is limited..i have talked to a lot of friends regarding this... all of them suggest germany to be the best option though i have not got enough insight into it....lets give up doing it in india...our country is a minimum of 20 to 30 yrs behind..will keep updating as soon as i get more information
