What is the canal of Chorda tympani nerve also called as ? This was asked in our internals. Searched a lot, didn't get the answer though ! Please help if anybody knows about this.

Hey, I asked about this to one of our PG students. He said it's Heuguier Canal ! Now, I'm confused. I think we need some solid reference here.

canaliculus of chorda tympani: a small canal that opens off the facial canal just before its termination, transmitting the chorda tympani nerve into the tympanic cavity; called also canal of chorda tympani, canalis chordae tympani, and Civinini's canal.

iter chordae anterius: an opening in the anterior part of the middle ear for exit of the chorda tympani nerve from the tympanic cavity; called also Huguier's canal

These definitions are from online Dorland.

I think it is clear from above definitions that chorda tympani nerve enters tympanic cavity from former and leaves from later. But specifically canal of chorda tympani is Civinini's canal. Now decide for yourself!!
