Quick Test on Dermatomes:
(Say true or false)

Q. 1. Intervertebral disc collapse between L5 and S1-

- wud cause pain radiating over the medial malleolus
- may cause reduced swetaing over the posterior aspect of the calf.


Q. 2. Intercostal block of one rib at the posterior angle causes:

a) somatic analgesia throughout the dermatome
b) visceral analgesia
c) low blood pressure because of preganglionic sympathetic block
d) increased blood levels of local anaesthetic
e) vasoconstriction

Q. 3. The dermatome of the 7th intercosttal nerve is at the level of the epigastrium.

-anesthesia over skin of the anterior aspect of the lower leg
-absence of cremateric reflex
-paresthesia of the skin over medial malleolus
-paresthesia over entire L2 dermatome
