jezzz cmon...wat got u haan...y dont U do STEP instead of MCCEE...coz ive heard that too its not easy to enter in thr system...n thy dont ask fo ur house job...yaa but will matter in a waythat u didnt waste ur time,coz as time passes n U not touchin the patient...ur CV grad will drop down...yaa if u do STEP there nothin counts,just ur score matters n that step 2 matters alot.
n as u said ur parents r thr cmon...anyone can hop betwen US N Canada ..

hhuumm n about USMLE ...tell u the very truth i did start with USMLE but due to some "REASONs" i switched to PLAB (still will go fo step n that will tell u latter HOW after PLAB )...so uumm...i DO KNOW lillbit about STEP.
n it STARTs with 1st "PLANING" n GAUGING ur self.U better know about HOW GOOD u r in studies...."as an AVERAGE STUDENT fo STEP shud not study "MORE THAN" 8 months....prety enuff.a good well 7 months it is like average is more or less 8 months.
but better go fo 8 months plus 1 month (being ASIAN we do face soemtime really TWISTY Condition where u havto pause ur study for few days to weeks) so its like 9 months ok.AS if Somehow if u r not satisfied with ur 8 months study u can extend ur exam date for 10 to 15 days or lillmore.
OK so 8 months it is plus 1 month to be onthe safe side....so now u have to plan from WHICH DATE to start with ur studies so that when u give ur STEP 1...result will take 1 month n STEP 2 not more then 5 months n 1 plus (to be on the safe side)n extra onemonth fo step 2 result...SO ...U MUST PLAN UR STUDY IN WAYTHAT U SHUD HAV STEP 1 N 2 RESULT BEFORE "SEPTYEMBER" THAT IS MID AUGUST.(IF 2 , 3 MONTHS EAR;YTHAT WILL BE PLUS..WILL TELLU LATTER Y).
IT IS BECAUSE THAT IN SEPTEMBER 1ST..."ERASE" OPEN UP THERE MATCHING SYSTEM...IN WHICH U MUST LOAD URCREDANTIALS FO MATCH.ELSE IF U DIDNT B4 OCTOBER 1ST (ERASE CLOSING DATE).OR U LOAD UR CREDANTIAL LATE..U WILL LOSE GOOD MATCHES.N ELSE EVEN U MAY NOT BE MATCH.IN THAT CASE U HAVTO WAITTHENFO QHOLE 1 YEAR I MEANTILL NEXT SEPTEMBER THAT WILL BE NOT GOOD AS U WILL BE A POOR MATCH THEN FOR NEXT COMPETITION.
OK IF SOME HOW U DID MANAGE TO GET UR RESULT SAY 2-3 MONTHS EARLY.THEN STRAIGHT AWAY APPLY FOR "CS (OR STEP3) N VISA.N CS NEVER TAKE MORE TEHN 2 MONTHS....N FO THAT U MUST GO TO USA TO SPENTTHOSE 2 MONTHS TAKIUNG CLINICAL SKILLS CLASSES ,WORKSHOPS N COURSES..NBEST WILL BE ATTACHMENTS..TO GET US DOCTORS RECOMENDATIONS.

.EVEN BF APPLYIN TO "ERASE U GIVE UR "CS" UW ILL BE A VERY STRONG CANDIDATE N VERY GOOD MATCH.
SO it is like that. U need
Fo STEP1 = 8+1months
Fo STEP2 = 5+1months
n U MUST HAVE STEP2 RESULT IN AUGUST.n APPLY TO ERASE ON 1st Sep.
Plus Point fo good match b4 givin CS r :
(1)H1 VISA status, (thy usualy give J1)
(2)above 90%score n rember step 2 score(must hav more then 90%) count more then step 1(even more then 85% is enuff)85% is enuff),
(3)Few US DOCTORs Letter of recomendations,n LOWER MATCHs like "INTERNAL MED Psychatry(higher matches r Opthlmology,surgery,Dermatology .Radiology)

So that means if u Reverse the WHOLE sytem u have to start study from."TODAY"

NOW once u know the study Time..now come 1at to study .
hhumm every body is reccomending KAPLAN.wellmost ofthem really dont know "Y KAPLAN IS RECCOMENDED IN 1ST PLACE" well kaplan is reccomnded in CASE IF U KNOW N STILL CAN REMEBER UR PREVIOUS COURSE SAY PHYSILOGY Anatomy N MOST IMP Pathology .
SAME GOES FO BRS.
coz....Some one likeme ...who even fo got how action potential is generated nthere Voltage values...Belive me those books can screw guy like me v easily (n thy did:D)so fothat u must hav a refrence book..like u must hav "GUYTON" lying on urtable while studyin KAPLAN.n as Pathology N Microbiology is sso v imp...There is NO way that u can revise it from BRS or KAPLAN..u havto study CONCISE.n fo Micro up to U.so wat i meant is that...KAPLAN n BRS is Not enuff fo Guy like me..n IF U REALLY CAN RECALL OLD COURSE THEN WHEN U SHUT DOWN UR PC GETUP N BUY UR SELF KAPLAN COURSE WITH DVDs.
uuumm...ok NOW U REACHED TO THEPOINT where u know u havto sit from today n u r holding KAPLAN Physio(every1 starts from physio U too)n Physio DVD in DVD ROM.then there is small glich..prob is...there rfew sbjects where KAPLAN is not suficient.then u hav to TOUCH,OR READ,or sometime SWITCH TO BRS.that i will explain which Subjects.
n U HAV to go through BRS ...after finishing every KAPLAN subjects...or if u study BRS then KAPLAN.n doing ADDITIONS to ur book.
SO lets summrize this all

IF U WANTTO GO FO STEP ...THEN U HAV TO START STUDY FROM THSI MONTH JANUARY.
START FROM KAPLAN PHYSIO WITH DVD(never start subject without KAPLAN DVD)
I WILL GUIDE U THROUGH THAT WHERE TO SWITCH BOOKs
Once done with subject u must go through BRS.
n Then comes urredaing it is v simple..

like:
3 READS TO WHOLE COURSE = 80 - 85%
4 READS WHOLE COURSE = 85 - 90%
5 READS WHOLE COURSE = 90 - 95% n SO ON ...

n yaa after ur third read u hav to DO KAPLAN TEST COURSES TO GAUGE UR STUDY N IT IS LIKE IF U TOOK MORE THEN 35%(against 50%) then 85 - 90% n so on...

n inthelast month u will PAY fo ONLINE KAPLAN TESTS that costs i think 6000 paki ruppe.n u will be doing i duno 600 or 1000 i fo got n not on sameday it willbe same like STEP exam.n will be fromthat POLL.so it will really orientat u Fo ur exam.
n about SUBJECTS..will tell u latter..1st u give it a LOOK n a GOOD THOUGHT.

Wat ive planed is as am alreday studyin fo PLAB n PLAB n STEP 2 course is more or less equal as...after PLAB study i will hardly be needing 2 months sudy fo STEP 2 just fo oreintation...SO IW ILL START FREOM GIVIN STEP 2 1st.Then "CS" (step2 n cs does not expire for 3 years) n at The end STEP 1 as i will alreday be studyin for MY MRCS N Pkaistan FCPS n those studies r same as STEP 1...

so my process is bit lenghty but is safe ...pROB IS...i CANt EVEN THINK ME BEING A DOCTOR N NOT DOING SURGERIES..AM SURGERY FREAK...very OBSSESD.n just to get Forign Hospital experince in SURGERY(in UK HOSPITAL)so that to MATCH IN SURGERY.or ELSE after doing n gettinthrough all that i will FALL BACK TO UK(just coz ofthat surgery if i didnt getthat in usa..BUT I WILL INSHAULLAH...U DONT KNOW ME ...UNN KA TAO BAAP BHEE INSHAULLAH MUJHA DAA GA)..

so as u r fresh graduate ...so hhumm Y dont U start from STEP 2...

it will be really V easy.ELSE...once u get through 9 months of step 1...ur this study will be worn out...

n as u r fresh grad...u will be needin less i mean hhum say 3 + 1 month...saving 1 whole month here .n this 1 month will help u in future as then u will be even havin ur CSresult n wilbe a v strong candidate inERASE..

THINK OVER IT...I WILL GUIDE U THROUGH.

as i hav recently given my exam i wont b havin much trouble.. n thats true..
But again 1 more problem.. as i know myself , i feel like i ain't real goody goody at case study .. ( like for instance .. a child of 2yrs having weight of 14lbs (6+kg) n having edema ........ wats the dignosis .. now i can call it PCM protein calorie malnutrition as grade 1 or even can call it grade 2 though all the values r cramed by me from book ..troubles me sometimes ... n while telling management all i could recall waz nutrition chart + giving protein ..n forgetting all abt infections n other complications like anemia .....so u see i need to know little more abt interconnecting knowlege n real application of knowlege ) thats wat the trouble is

So from This stage wat ever u study study it like u will be givin ur STEP not ur Proff.Sec Fo Get Everythin HELL WITH SUPPLIES n This n that ...AS may be u wont be gettin supply atthis stage as u will be studyin hard(n u shud study hard that Anatomy PHYSIO N BIOCHEM as that will help u in laststages) n Go n ASK UR DADY to Bought U those KAPLAN + BRS series with DVDs straight away..so as u r progressin through UR course go through those books too...n Do additions from ur "Big Reffrence Book(As if u r studyin Guyton fo Physio then that will be ur reffrence book n ur study book fo Proff Final exam will be that KAPLAN)n also go through those DVDs n beklive me u can even Secure a Gold Medal in those subjects as kaplan will Mak U "CHEETAH" of these starter subjects.So that is ur Starter Course .stick to it if u want to....ELSE ASK wat ever u wantto..from Me or from Lightning Gall as she too is senior from u n will guide u trough...

Umm it is like...U ask for "QUARTER" wat QUarter means is that thy devided the whole year in to 3-3 months sessions so one quarter makes 3 months.so when u go n ask fo ur exam say as u saidthat u will go fo ur exam after 3 or 4 months so that will be like after MAY(if 4) so u will be askin for "June,July,August QUARTER" so thy will aarrange ur exam date some where inthose 3 months.NOW u will be askin watifthy gav me date in august that will burn 2 extra months...fo that u hav to apply as soon as posible..or to be onthe safe side ask fo "APRIL,MAY.JUNE QUARTER"n that in LATE APRIL dates so thy wiull arrange u some where in May June,So wat ifthy gave u early date SO WAT U CAN EXTEND UR EXAM DATE 3 TIMES WITHOUT ANY EXTRA FEE...:)asking quarter date is hellping in a way that with in month u will get ur exam date say wat if u go tomorow(in january) n ask fo that "APRIL,MAY.JUNE QUARTER" n thy squeez u some where in MAY(perfect date)(if u want early date u can just ask fo date in any conzective 3 months ANY)so once uvegot ur MAY date letter atthe end of JAN ...well u IT WILL BE LIKE SAME OLD EXAM DATE SHEET AS HERE IN COLLEGE DAYS...n then No matter HOW R U FEELING U HAV TO SIT FO EXAM = NO BHANA.so it is good fo askin fo date AS SOON AS POSSIBLE..as that will help u to study seriouly:)

SWEAR here U n i Match in way that me too is not good in recalling those books...n reaching to diagnoses through other means.SO as u r good in case studies...Step study n EMQs will polish U..

the more u do EMQs the more gettin good% chances will be high.n step EMQs r bit TWISTY...i mean...i was redaing an EMQ from step CD...n it was like...4 question in one question n the ans given was one...like..thy asked...a person addmits with symptoms of "This This This"(question 1) on history he said he went to "blaa blaa Place in USA"(u must know the whole USA map on finger tips n geographical variation in disease there.that makes question 2)on the basis of investigation(no investigation given question 3) which tretament will u give(question 4 n the main question)...n then there were 6 ANSWERs. ALSO there is sec prob as Questions r interlinked as the next question was....AS INTEH ABOVE CASE WAT IF PATIENT IS RESISTENT TO URTREATMENT(Damn it that makes it 5 question) n if u pick rong answer fo the above question..AUTOMATICALY ur following ANS will berong

...n to get at any cost in to us...wat ppl do is that ...Creat 3 to 4 or more ERASE PROFILE with Diffrent FAV options ...(like changing randomly states,choices,n hospitals) increasin jobn oportunities.
ok so now US hospitals LOAD there Prefrences,...so IF U OPT SURGERY ON TOP...n hospital in TEXAS ONTOP N STAT TEXAS...n there u didnt match BUT ANOTHER HOSPITAL IN CHICAGO IS ASKIN FOR SAME AS A STUDENT IN SURGERY ..well as ur stat or ur match does not match with chicago u miss that.so IN SOME WAY ERASE DOES HELP..BUT OTHER WAY FREUSTRAT U AS...THY WILL SAY SORY U DONT MATCH THERE N U WILL BE CURSING TEHM ..CMON I CAN FLY TO CHICAGO N WILL LIVETHERE EVEN ON FOOTPATHS ..THY WLL SAY NO...U OPT FOR TEXAS..

Bu ..U will match say IF POOR CANDIDATE with 500 applications..in say 5 to 10 hopitals(the early u load ur credantials the better chances of gettin match so ppl usualy sit infront of there PC on 31 august n as after 1 3midnight there in USA ERASE starts taking applkications thy lodge theer n get OOD MATCH..(its conusing 1st u two give ur STEPS then i bet u i will plan ur application in way that u definetly will get ur FAV MATCHES..
