Quick Scroll ENT - Frontal sinusitis 12.17.05 (2 years ago) #1

Frontal sinusitis causes "office headache" i.e. the headache appears on getting up in the morning, increases as the day progresses it increases, reaches peak at afternoon hours and then decreases slowly in the evening.

My question is : Why this pattern of headache ? especially when the opening of the frontal sinus is inferiorly so that the secretions can drain so easily. It should actually decrease when a person stands, isn't it ?

I go a clue.headache due to frontal sinusitis is vacume headache.when u r lying down there is no blockage of ostium due to secretions & vacume is not created in sinus.but as u stand even if secretions r draining the ostium is blocked either by secretions or oedema creating vacume.the second thing is that frontal sinuses r not as lower as maxillary corresponding to their ostia.so even u r supine frontal sinuses can drain easily.
