NIMHANS to tie up with BBC

BANGALORE, DHNS:

Bangalore-based NIMHANS will tie up with media giant BBC World in the field of science and education.

This was disclosed in Bangalore on Friday by NIMHANS Director Dr D Nagaraj during the preview screening of ‘Brain Story’, a part of the new ‘21st Century Medicine Season’ programme presently being telecast on BBC World.

“We have one of the best medical libraries and BBC has a good collection of educational programmes which are thoroughly researched and well presented. We plan to acquire some such films as it will benefit our medical students in understanding medicine-related issues better,” Dr Nagaraj told Deccan Herald. When asked to explain the modalities of the collaboration with BBC World, he said, “It is just a beginning, we will work on it.”

Dr Nagaraj along with other leading neuro-surgeons in Bangalore and medical students watched “First Among Equals’, the fourth episode of the Brain Story series which provides a glimpse into science’s journey to understand what it is about brains that has put humans in charge of the planet. In the series, Britain’s leading neuro-scientist Prof Susan Greenfield explains why she believes that humans are truly just big-brained chimpanzees. The series is being telecast on Saturdays at 7:40 pm and on Sundays at 2:20 pm and 11:40 pm.
