sentinel surveillance is the one done at physician or health care provider level.it adds "missing cases" to the existing database and is used to apply it to entire population and calculate prevalence.

now coming to the question
all the other three give missing cases and are of serious public health importance but for diarrhoea.

physician's role in reporting cases of diarrhoea is miniscule when compared with others i feel!!

I thought the same way as shradda!

Is cholera not a very important public health problem? that too surveillance and notification can very much be of use in devising preventive measures.......

oh ya but what i meant was diarrhoea can even be reported by a multi purpose health worker who does routine surveillance.
sentinel is something different from routine surveillance in that its physician doing it.
I meant it.
