Quick Scroll best tip to pass plab2 12.28.05 (3 years ago) #1

hia. ive seen people struggling to pass this one. with all the forums and the info it has.. confusing more than educating
i passed my plab2 having not read a book or been to any course. all i had was a house officer year and 3 months A&E sho exerience. i got here 2 days before my exam and just did it. in the waiting area i saw plabees SINGING books and procedures sounding so mechanial
after the exam, in retrospect ( as i advised a friend.. who also didnt look at a book or attent those famous east london courses)..and he also passed
so here are the tips:
1. relax..
2. be cool and look confidently
3. speak clearly and articulate yer words well
4. common courtesy is innate.. you wont learn that in books. be natural.. and it looks natural and that will work
5. counselling a ptient, explaining a procedure.. or doing a procedure..DONT SOUND MECHANICAL.. that will just show examiner you are regurgitating stuff. be natural, be yourself. there is NOT only one way of doing things..DO it in an ACCEPTABLE manner.
6. if you sound artificial.. they assume u not competent.. you just regurgitating stuff.. so dont do that
7. an example.. examine tis patients knee.. just do it as you would.. dont sing the song u get taught at the PLAB courses..just do it like you would at your own hospital

hope that helps
