To those interested in working/staying at Queensland, here are our alternatives:
Doctors for the Bush
This is a special program for General (Family) Practitioners who wish to settle long term in Queensland. Applicants must have sufficient General Practice training and experience to allow them to obtain the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) within two years and an interest in rural and remote medical practice in small communities. In return for service in these communities, the practitioner will be sponsored for permanent residency and be granted a provider number to work anywhere in Australia
.
Area of need
The Medical Board of Queensland may grant 'Special Purpose Registration' to international medical graduates (IMGs) allowing IMGs to practice in Queensland. Special Purpose Registration currently contains 8 categories, of which Area of Need is one of them.
Applicants must have full registration in their country of origin to be eligible to apply for Area of Need.
Interns are not eligible work in designated area of need positions therefore ineligible to be registered under 'Section 135 - Area of Need'. Individuals completing their studies overseas and wishing to undertake their internship in Queensland may be considered for registration by the Medical Board of Queensland under a different Special Purpose Registration category (Section 132 - Postgraduate study or training).
Training
The Centre for International Medical Graduates within the Skills Development Centre runs bridging courses to assist international medical graduates (IMGs) prepare for the Australian Medical Council (AMC) examinations and for employment into Queensland Health hospitals. It runs:
MCQ* Bridging Courses to prepare international medical graduates to pass the required MCQ Examination as the first step in the process of gaining general registration in order to practice medicine in Australia
. The MCQ Bridging Course includes a focused lecture program and Trial Examinations with consultant reviews. (*MCQ - Multiple Choice Question)
Clinical Bridging Courses to prepare IMGs for the AMC Clinical Examination. This course includes a lecture program and a Trial Examination with consultant FEEDBACK
.
Preparation for Employment (PFE) Courses - This 19-week course is intended for IMGs who are seeking employment in Queensland Health hospitals. Applicants for the PFE Course must have already passed the MCQ Examination. The PFE Course includes a structured medical observership and lecture program.
Doctors from interstate are welcome to apply for all courses. However, due to the nature of the program, interstate candidates would need to be willing to relocate to Queensland at their own expense. Relocation before you are selected onto any course is not advised. Doctors should also note that there is no guarantee of employment into any Queensland Health hospital on completion of any course.
Requirements to Practice
Individuals wishing to work in Queensland as a doctor must be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Queensland.
There are several categories of registration including:
General Registration;
Mutual Recognition (registered in another State/Territory in Australia
);
Specialist Registration; and
Special Purpose Registration.
International Medical Graduates who have the following are eligible to apply for general registration with the Medical Board of Queensland:
completing the Australian Medical Council examinations to attain certification; or
hold general registration in other States/Territories of Australia
Please refer to the Australian Medical Council for further information about attaining certification.
International Medical Graduates that do have either of the above, may apply for registration under ‘Special Purpose’.

i would personally avoid bundaberg hospital like the plague
It was where Dr Patel/ death was working and obviously the epicentre of the backlash against the OTDs
Also it is considered to be one of the rogue hospitals
for the rest of your queries check out NICs FAQs

I don't think you can apply for PR for that visa. What I know is that you will have to have a general registration in Australia
, or did a 2 year course in Australia
, or stayed for a number of years in Australia
to be eligible for PR.
Regarding the place, maybe others can answer you....
Regards.
