Its not exactly a doubt but wanna inform you about the change in time limits for birth and death registration. Park mentions the time limit for Birth and Death registration as follows:

Birth = within 14 days
Death = within 7 days

But i've come across a different set of data. Nowadays the limit for both is 21 days. I don't know if its uniform across all states or not but I am very sure for Rajasthan (cos i've ssen the govt pamphlets for general public) and Haryana (Link:http://haryanahealth.nic.in/Documents/BirthRegistration.htm)

Take note and any more info is welcome...

Thanks everbody for adding 2 our info.

Manpreet i've already mentioned that in Rajasthan its 21 days. I've given a link to Haryana govts official site, u can confirm from there. We had even enquired with our PSM HOD and he said its 21 days now, though we din ask about differences in diff states then. Maybe d IAMS guys went with Park.

Well about Amit Ashish, all i can say is, i don't consider it a reference at all. So we should go for some official document.

Aditi and Vineet seem to agree and if u guys could post some more references, it could be confirmed.

Quote:
As per Delhi Registration of Births & Deaths Rules, 1999 (w.e.f 1.1.2000), all births, still births and deaths within 21 days of the occurrence are to be reported to the Registrar /Sub-Registrar of the concerned local area.

The language suggests that maybe, its the power of state govt to prescribe the limit.
