let me explain briefly and simply... its difficult though!

we start a research study with the basic premise that there is NO (cause-effect) relationship/association between the factors/variables which are going to be studied...in other words, this statement implies that if any association/relationship is found during the study it shall be attribted to chance (i.e. it will be considered a random occurance).... This is called the null hypothesis.

In reality null hypothesis could be TRUE (no relationship) or FALSE (there is a relationship).

An alpha error occurs when our study results show a relationship/association between the two factors when in realty there is no such relationship (null hypothesis is TRUE) and we reject the null hypothesis as being false.... as an analogy we can say its like a judge convicting a person as guilty when in reality he is innocent!

its c....The decision error of concluding for alternative hypothesis when in reality the null hypo is true.....this is the probability ( P value) of commiting type 1 error or alpha error, its set at 5%- 1 out of 20 times the researcher wants to be in this type 1 error when asserting that the treatment and control groups truly differ.
