STATEMENT 2

Mycobacterium kansasii is an acid-fast bacillus (AFB) that can be recognized readily by its photochromogenicity.


The most common manifestation of M kansasii infection is a chronic pulmonary disease similar to pulmonary tuberculosis.

It may also manifest as an infection of other organs. Incidence has increased with the advent of AIDS.

It is the second most common opportunistic nontuberculous mycobacterial infection associated with AIDS;

NAHI VINEET I M SAYING 1 & 2 R CORRECT..

n abt M. africanum wht anthnarayan says ..its atypical mycobacteria...(p=368 8th ed)
n atypical mycobacteria are better called " enviornmental mycobacteria " as their natural habitat appears to b soil or water ( p = 365 )..not direct but indicating tht option 3 is smwht correct.

all options are very close to b true xcept abt M marinum..

so Q needs lots of "HEAD SCRATCHING & HAIR PULLING" icon_lol.gif

i marked 1.....it seems right, ofcourse tubrculosis is mainly pulmonary nd is caused by m.tb..............bovis is only for intestinal one...

does anyone agree..
