Healthcare system in India poor: McKinsey study
Bangalore: A study conducted by McKinsey, the global market research firm in association with CII which was focussed on strategy and sales in healthcare industry, has found out that healthcare system in India is quite poor. Revealing this at the National Service Sector Conclave at Bangalore, Ajay Dhankhar, associate principal of McKinsey said demand for healthcare has grown in last ten years. It requires hard work and collaborations between government and private sector. India has low levels of pre-payment and lack of competition between healthcare providers. There is change in disease profile and today it is more of life style disease. The current 5.2 per cent GDP contribution of healthcare will grow to 6.2 per cent in 10 years, he said. The industry is disorganised in India with low spend on inpatient care, low affordability in industry, high cost of medicine, lack of standards and malpractices. The findings and recommendations of McKinsey report is expected to come out later this month.

I TRIED A LOT TO FIND A RIGHT ANS TO THIS QUES.

MOST BOOKS SAY ITS 5.2 GIVING THIS SAME REFERENCE TO NATIONAL HEALTH POLICY 2002.

BUT THE QUESTION ASKS FOR THAT ACCORDING TO THE WHO HEALTH REPORT 2000 AND NOT ANY OTHER YEAR.

ACCORDING TO THIS:

TOTAL HEALTH EXPENDITURE AS %OF GDP WAS 5.2 IN INDIA IN 1998. IF THAT IS WHAT IS PUBLISHED IN THE WHO HEALTH REPORT 2000 THEN THE ANS IS RIGHT. FOR IT SAYS THAT IN 2000 WAS 6.3.

AGAIN, ACCORDING TO
Only RxPG members can see links here! Register or Sign In!

THE HEALTH EXPENDITURE IN 2000 BY INDIA IS 4.9 THAT MEANS THAT THE OTHER CHOICE ----4.8 SHOULD BE THE RIGHT

so basically i'm confused. icon_cry.gif icon_cry.gif can anyone help or clarify or give an appropriate reference. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

i really apologise RxPG_Team for the two links to the WHO website that i posted above, the graphs n informations in which i thought would be very useful in slving the Q in this thread.

though i had read the RxPG TOS before i couldn't make out that i'm not supposed to post links to websites other than those within the rxpgonline forum, until i read the 'forum chapter' in the Nagging forum.

sirs, please do the needful with the links that i posted but plz don't block my i.d.
