Hi Shahid,
Are you a postgraduate??
Unless you go on to to complete your MRCP
or MRCS
, it does not have any relevance in fetching you a job or either getting a better pay package.Saudi needs doctors desperately, there is a big boom in the health industry. So getting a job is never a problem.

hi Shahid,
after internship you need a minimum of 2 yrs work experience to get a job.Without experience you are not eligible to sit the exams. Recruitment agencies would hence shun away. If you are so desperate for a job in Saudi, then you may go on a "Umra" visa and try your luck there. You may get recruited and then you could come back with a working visa and return on a valid working visa.
My best suggestion is to go on to do your MRCP
and then you may land there as a Consultant. The pay package is hefty if you have a western qualification.

Hi Althaaf,
Wherever you work in the Gulf
, not just in medical field, if you are sponsored by the place you are working for, ie they are providing you with a work visa, you have to submit your passport to them and can take it only when you are travelling on your annual vacation or for certain other reasons. You can't keep it with you in most places. This is to ensure that people don't come on a work visa from one establishment and then abscond.

Hi Haifaa
Thanks for info. but the passport is a travel document and not something you use as a security. even the president of your country cannot take it from you unless you have commited a crime. and keeping the passport and harasssing a professional is unfair. It is also unfair to treat people according to skin color. racism is in theses countries and not in the west.I have lived in both sides. what i noticed is if you are living in west, they trust you a lot for everything. like if i want to reimburse, i just have to tell them and give them a copy or something. but if it as a middleeast country, u have to submit passport copies, if it is for ticket then, boarding card, ticket and a letter from agent saying that you travelled on that day. i had to remind these fools that how a agent can issue such a letter. he wont be sitting in airport and watching me. at the mst he can say is the tickets were issued for such a date. but i can always change my booking.
this is not to offend anyone but what i have experienced so that others can consider these points while deciding.

Hi Althaf,
All what i had to say has been voiced by Haifa.YOur opinion on the Passport issue is valid only in a democratic set-up.In Saudi which is an Islamic country following the Sharai rules, one can only obey their laws. All i can tell you is that it is not so bad as you think.

Hi Althaaf and jeej,
I am not either with or against such a rule. I only wanted to inform althaaf that this is not an isolated incident that he heard of when he found that passports are kept with the employers. it is done in most places here in the Gulf
and this is regardless of skin colour or nationality. but it is not necessary that this causes inconvenience to the employees. whenever you require it either for travelling on your annual leave, or for some immigration purpose, or for any other valid legal reason, they do hand you your passport, and when you resign, your passport is of course handed back to you. i have lived in the Gulf
for all my life and my family never faced any problems because of this. don't think that this is a big issue. it isn't necessarily a problem as you may think. mind you, i'm not saying that it is fine everywhere and i'm not saying that this rule should or should not be there, i'm just saying that it is there.

and jeej, I don't know much about saudi arabia, but this rule is there in just about all Gulf
countries, not only saudi arabia, and you can't blame anything you hear on fanaticism of any religion, unless you have solid proof. do you have solid proof that islam is fanaticism? islam is a democratic religion if you really do some research and find out for yourself instead of relying on the words of others. Don't ever say the words "islam" and "fanaticism" together, please. trust me, you won't find anything mentioned in islamic law about keeping people's passports. these countries follow their set of rules based on what they feel is right, not because they are "islamic fanatics", as you put it. this is based on experiences they have been through which are distinct from that in India, as india does not have such a huge expat workforce and does not face people coming on a work visa, absconding from that place and leaving the employer in the lurch, or setting up illegal and harmful businesses.
I don't mean any offence by what i am saying, i'm just saying, don't unjustly include religion into things when there is no connection whatsoever.
