Quick Scroll Hi Hardcoremallu, 01.12.06 (2 years ago) #2

It is quite easy for Indians, like everybody else to get a shengen visa cause the countries involved are popular tourist spots, the best embassy to apply is French consulate..they are very helpful, the next best choise I would say is German. They usually give the visa very soon, two days max, depending on the list of applications. Now would be the best time as its winter in the countries included. Ofcourse you have to show a return ticket and the accomodation thing can be managed thru net,and the invitation thing is also optional, but if u show them then the chances are better. I am not sure about the finances but if u have an invitation then its covered with that I suppose. They usually give a mutiple entry visa even if it is for just for three months. But getting a longterm visa might be difficult (u can opt, though, for 6mnths,but as I said u'll have to be very lucky or have a solid reason other than just sightseeing)

Yaa as far as I know u do have to go in person for applying..and as for the documents they're the usual, like the application form and if there's an invitation then that and proof of residence/employment of the person who has invited u,your return ticket and ofcourse u'll be needing a&e insurance,I think TATA AIG gives a good package..thats as far as I can remember,if I remember anything more I will surely tell u..

yaa..Tata AIG is from India..well there are many other insurances too that u can try.. How much it costs depends on what sort of package you are looking for,for how long and for how many people ofcourse, for a family as a whole ie,if you are going for a holiday may cost upto Rs.12000 for 3 mnths..but you better check out with them for full details..

I think it's not a big deal since you are a doctor!

Quote:
where do we apply, if we are visiting many countries?

You have to apply, generally, at the embassy of the country you'll first enter!!!
(eg- You have got the visa from German embassy but can't travel to Sweden first, you must enter Germany first and then you may go anywhere. Some people may tell that it's just a formality but you may have trouble at the port of entry depending on the mood of immigration officer)

Quote:

Some embassies take even 3 months when you apply with a sponsor letter from a friend or relative. This highly depends on your current location and immigrational and occupational status in there!

Quote:
should we have to show flight tickets incl return?

Best to get the info from embassy you are applying at cos they change rules very often!

Quote:
do we have to show proof of accomodation?

Yep! mandatory!!!

Quote:
does anyone need to sponsor or show some invitation?

Well, you may get sponsor/invitation and then you will apply for VISITOR visa.
Without such papers, you will apply for TOURIST visa.
If I were you, I would choose the latter for many positive reasons!!!

Quote:
how much financial ability we have to show?

This depends on the duration of your proposed stay.
Better to make it not more than 1 month ( or 2 wks)
1500 GBP in your account will do, I hope!

Quote:
does visa processing for schnegen differ for each countries?

Yep! It does!

Quote:
do we have to finish our holiday in one go or are we allowed to enter again?

If you have SINGLE entry, then you can't enter again.
If multiple, yes you can.(USUALLY they don't give multiple entries)

Quote:
how many months its valid, can we opt?

Depends on many issues!
Max ask for 3 months! AGAIN, FINANCIAL SUPPORT MUST BE SUFFICIENT FOR YOUR LENGTH OF STAY)

These things are subject to change so please get the latest info from the embassy to avoid confusions.

I hope this will slightly help you.
