Hi,
I think the eligibility for a Post doc fellowship is PhD, preferably from an internationally recognised university. That is what I observed from the post doc vacancy pages. I am not sure whether an MD from INDIA is directly permissible without any qualifying exams. May be you might find it somewhere if u try hard. All the best.

Hi,
I haven't applied for any pdf as yet as am only in my final year of my md now. I posted that on the basis of what I read and heard about it.
The problem is that pdf as such requires considerable research experience, with articles published in peer reviewed journals. At least that's what the pdf openings in reputed universities expect. Moreover, these fellowships are largely contractual, and so we might find ourselves in the lurch after the contractual 1yr or 3 yr period..Doing a pdf is not a great deal, what after that counts equally...

Hello All,
I think the best thing for us, is to continue to gain experience in our field by working in our respective settings while continuing to update ourselves with CMEs. My little experience has taught me that work during PG and a formal career are quite different as faclities may not be the same and all may not get the best oppurtunities. We need to do the best with what we have.
Besides as pointed out by welterfolg : what will happen after the training is over? would it really serve a big advantage in terms of salary in India? I doubt that....
besides with pdfs can we practice as clinical microbiologists in US??
What say????
