the answer given is correct.
what seems from reading robbins,
collagen fibres are present right from day 3 though they are vertically oriented and do not bridge the incision, only by day 5 , they start bridging the incision.

fibroblastic proliferation starts only by second week, when collagen accumulation continues.

Fibroblast migration / collagen synthesis

Successful healing requires the migration of mesenchymal cells into the wound. Stimulated by the growth factors, fibroblasts migrate into the wound through the ECM. By 7 day, they are the predominant cell type in the wound. At 5 to 7 days after wounding, the fibroblast begins synthesizing collagen, which increases in a linear fashion for 2 to 3 weeks.
