The vitreous develops from BOTH the mesoderm and neuroectoderm.

1.PRIMARY VITREOUS (represented by the hyaloid vessels) develops from the mesoderm
2.SECONDARY VITREOUS(represented by the definitive vitreous) develops from the neuroectoderm.
3.TERTIARY VITREOUS(represented by the ciliary body) develops from the neuroectoderm
