Externship is out of bounds for FMG`s who have already completed their internship

Recommendation by local physicians in US can aid in getting an observer`s post.Most doctors of indian origin are helpful.The physician can suggest your name to the university authorities...if they approve u`ll get the post.

Research papers need a good boss...with some international publications in his name if possible...PG candidates may ask their guides while UG`s may approach their medical school profs for assisstance.However publications in foreign medical journals take a long time.About a year or so from the time of submission

i recently found out something about the observership that i`d like to share with all

it seems as a fmg you are not entitled to an observer`s post till you have your ecfmg certification.
i didn`t know twas` mandatory even to apply for the post

do u have any idea abt which all hospitals offer observership to fmgs
my step 1 score is 97 abt to give step 2 in may

not all observorships.............some hospital need ecfmg
some do not.........u have to search for those who donot need it.......

nope this is not rtue.
givin an observership is completely a descretion of the HoD or the administrator involved.a good step1 & 2 score help.but thr is no such rule.

thats a very helpful piece of info...

also would like to add that what fragile said applies mostly when you have a bigshot contact who knows the HoD or the administrator of the hospital well.

some institutes insist on ecfmg certification if they have problems with your visa status...dependent visas and visitor`s visas are considered in the dicey category.
though its not true about all institutions and hospitals.
