hey the question was interestingly named Prevalence..why so?

Well as the positive predictive value increases prevalence increases or vice versa... so maybe thats why the answer is ppv..

positive predictive rate of a given test indicates that a pt having a positive test result has definitly the disease.this means that positive pridictive value determins the total no. of true positive out of all those who show psitive(true positive+false ppositive=POSitive) results in the given test.

as PPR tells bout the true positive cases..so i think it should be the best tool for screening of a test...

hope it helps...

ya some where near it .......i thought of in that line but then i was struck :
Why not sensitivity which is more constant and can be used to compare between two tests as unlike ppv it varies less with prevalence
