Both harrison & LB says that peritoneal cavity contains a few ml of fluid.
DAS TEXTBOOK(991-Pg) SAYS THAT IT CONTAINS 100ml of staw coloured fluid.
also says surface area of peritonium is 2 m.square.

substances less than 10 micronsmeter r only absorbed in per. surface.

DEar members,

We must also bear in mind that if 150 mL is the usual amount, then ALL humans would be diagnosed as having "minimal ascites" by our radiologist friends since STANDARD TEXTBOIOKS (REPEAT) say 100 mL is the amount needed to produce USG detectable ascites icon_biggrin.gif

ASCITES- DERIVED FROM WORD -ASKITOS -FULL BLADDER

PLS U VISIT UR RADIOLOGIST ASK ABOUT THE COMMENT U MADE INSTEAD OF INTERPRETING WHAT U READ IN UR STANDARD TEXTBOOKS.
ASK THEM WHEN THEY REPORT ASCITES.

U WILL GET THE ANSWER.PLS DONT MAKE COMMENT ON UR INTERPRETATION.

FOR ME THERE IS NO SIGNIFICANCE OF WORD MINIMAL ASCITES . DONT U THINK SO??

Dear Members

I choose to keep mum and not further this kind of discussion. Hence referred the matter for discussion to other able members like nadu and champkanchan.
