Quick Scroll FAQ: How to choose a branch in AIPGE counseling? 02.19.06 (2 years ago) #1

hello
this article is for all those who are going to attend councelling this time.
look if either of ur parents are doc and in pvt practise .... take that branch
dont go about taking something new thinking taht u want to challenge and prove ur worth as all this things are good in books not in practical life....be more intelligent and more practical
next whether the place u are going to practise is rural area or urban
urban means do that city has medical college where u are going to practise???
if from rural area go for a broad branch like medicine or surg.
if from urban area where many doc are already go for radiology or Pathology .
most places radiologist and pathologist earn equal
and if u are die hard fan of so called clinical patient touch go for orthopadeics or Paediatrics
but dont go for med or surg..
if u want to do DM /MCh u can do it by taking md paeds or ms orth as most places the eligibilty at present is for DM ---md med or paed for MCh ---ms surg or ms orthopaedics
in case u dont turn succesful in doing in DM or MCh u have in ur hand already specialized br.
as doing DM -MCh is going to be toooooooo tuf yaar
now u are thinking u willl clear this that but trust me thing finally work out for 4-5 percent
look there are toatl max seats for DM in india is 64 in cardiology and 65 is the min no of med seats in Rajasthan ...
so be practical and feel free to ask me any question in choosing ur branch

secondly look please dont go for diploma first u can compromise on college but not on ur masters yaar
look after doing diploma u ahve to do DNB ..
the passion of telling what u doing wont come unlessu doing md/ms
yaar everyone say md equal to DNB ??
right
but tell me who do DNB who dont get diploma also
ur respect if u join any instituion wont come unless u have masters....
time is for best u can have
by taking diploma u are moving ur one step back from
ur salary for thatt matter ur reputation for that matter is moved i step back yaar
in place of taking diploma go for taking md anesthesia md Pathology yaar u may not feel the glamour as mbbs pass out u may feel inferior but as u get through older in this medical profession u realize what i mean./..................

hey docrinku, agreed with ur case in favour of degree and against diploma. but hey, there are also things like aptitude, interest and obsession (in ascending order!!) how do we fight that? do u think getting a degree is an end in itself ???

we have to be successflul and proficient in whatever we do yaar, in the end. that alone ensures happiness, money and all. so acc to me, choice of subject has to be first, then we should look for degree/diploma.

however this does not apply to people who are multi-dimensional, multi-talented, versatile, etc.,, (which i am not)

i too agree now a day reputation matters.. if we take the subject that we always wanted, we will definately we will give our best but saturation comes ... input requires see output also.. and in our profession its a matter of impressing by the degree n knowledge icon_cool.gif well, i feel knowledge wins in the long run icon_arrow.gif .........but to start with, degree is required.. nothing is impossible ..people may say kiddish but where there is a will there is a way... u have to deciede at which level u want to take the risk icon_twisted.gif

i totaaly agree with docrinku.he is absolutely right.interest matters, no doubt but money too matters.AND IT MATTERS A LOT.so one has to be practical enough these days.its also true that one can't choose a branch in which you have no interest at all.but you have to make a choice while keeping in mind both INTEREST AND MONEY,say 50-50 of both.anyone of it cant be ignored fully.
