hi friends, well i was here on a PLAB visa and now my PLAB visa expires on 27th march 2006. i have an offer in a university in london and i will be paying the full fees with accomodation for the masters course. i will also show my finances of stay here. so, can i convert my PLAB visa to student visa at the croydon home office or should i have to travel to home country to get the student visa?
what r the necessary documents required to show in the home office if i stand a chance to convert my visa status here in country?

Hi i got very interested in ur article as i too am planning to do the same . But to my knowledge you would have tog o back to convert it to a students visa!this im sure you must have become aware of by now! Do let us know wht happened?

hi friends, gaffy etc. sorry for replying to ur post very late. I actually am in India and i got a 5 year Multiple entry student visa to USA to study with Kaplan at New Jersey. iam now focusing on USMLE , because I feel that UK is a closed door to IMG's, even after doing the PLAB there is no long term settlement in UK unlike the USA. Moreover i have cancelled my admission at the Barts and London Hospital to study Gastroenterology.

Hi Drahil......... that sounds great... OK leave UK...... i have come back from UK after taking PLAB and now we are planning 4 USA....... please tell me how can i apply for US visa on the basis of Admission in Kaplan....... that sounds practical........

well, ishuanu i applied for a student program( USMLE Step 1 and 2 CK program which costs 8500 USD) to Kaplan New Jersey directly by paying initial amount of 750 USD,( draft payable to Kaplan INC, LA California) and also showed my finances and support, which my dad showed from Kuwait. I got my I-20 and thats it, with all my particulars and educational certificates, i approached the American Embassy and i got the visa. Fortunately they didnt ask any of my certificates because my profile was good and i travelled a lot to many countries. The course is for one year to be finished in one and half year, i didnt expect they would give me a 5 year visa. If interested you can go to the kaplanmedical dot com website and u may find something useful and how to apply etc.

thanks 4 information....... hope it is useful for all those who want US visa.......i have seen a number of docs who take GRE TOEFL and apply for Graduate programs just to get in there.....

did u get the visa easily. i havent got any previous travel history.., i wanna go to US by the kaplan way. will u explain the procedure in detail and specifically how long it took
