Hey babla you are from which college?what do you know about jj med?
One of my friends who is now in AIIMS
had opted for BJ med in last all india. He repented for it.He told me how cats and dogs have VIP access to the micus and CCUs there. He was disillusioned and resigned at the earliest.Luckily he got AIIMS
nuclear MED and escaped !
JJ is definitely far superior .So pls write with proper knowledge of the facts.Dont just state the trends of the past few years.

cats and dogs have vip access to micus!!
nice way of pputting it dude. yeah access to micu is pretty unrestricted but thats no reason why a coll is superior to another.
in bj the CR manages everything from MI to ARF to rheumat cases. No segregation whatsoever. Superspeciality units are attached to routine units so that exposure is also there.... in fact two yrs ago a senior of mine left KEM mumbai and opted for BJMC pune (( not many approve offcourse .. but he was like i want to manage the cases myself ))
as far as disillusionment is concerned any government college is going to offer similar working conditions!

i havnt heard much praise for peds at bjmc pune. they have a separate building for peds an the wards are ok. many parents prefer to take thier kids 2 kem from what ive heard. the biggest drawback id say is the senior prof's. those pl are a mess ( atleast defi for interns...an i dun think thier attitudes wud b much different for residents.....)

Mr.hjorq ,the absence of superspeciality doesnt give the pgs more experience .In JJ even JRs handle MIs and ARFs.CRs not required for such minor ailments..JJ and GT both have rheumatology OPD once a week. The MED dept. only looks after this. From what you tell me about KEM ,I think then JJ looks to be the best for Medicine in Maharashtra

Surely JRs will be handling MIs and ARFs ( under the dupervision of CRs ), right dude? -- thats precisely the work JRs do. So no point taking pride that even JRs handle these cases.
As far as comparing JJ and BJ .. its a tough choice. I wont degrade JJ in public nor will I praise my alma matter excessively. no point.
By absence of superspeciality i mean full time DM
And MCh
residents working in the hospital. JJ has a full time Neurosurg department functional since ages - Does the GSUR resident stand a chance of doing subdural/extradural?
If a college has DM
cardio, these guys will take away all the cardio cases ( lets not restrict to MIs, cardio has lot more to it than MIs alone. )
though in my post i mentioned just MIs , Dude this is what i meant in broad term.
BJ has DM
, Cardio, Neuro, Nephro OPDs 1-3 times a week. The senior consultings and the respective unit residents take care of the OPDs.
regards
hemant

If 1 has a GOOD setup & GOOD interpersonal skills , he / she can run a roaring practice ; no matter what quality of PG degree/ diploma he/she has as long as its a clinical 1.
U can go 4 a non-recgonised degree , its up2 u . Seychelles ...... hmmmm Sun & Sand n da Sparkling sea .
U can't do a super-specialisation after a non-recognised course.
