NBME Organization and Governance

The NBME is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides high-quality examinations for the health professions. Protection of the health of the public through state of the art assessment is part of the mission of the NBME, along with a major commitment to research and development in evaluation and measurement. The NBME was founded in 1915 because of the need for a voluntary, nationwide examination that medical licensing authorities could accept as the standard by which to judge candidates for medical licensure. Since that time, it has continued without interruption to provide high quality examinations for this purpose and has become a model and a resource of international stature in testing methodologies and evaluation in medicine.

The approximately 80 members of the National Board constitute its governing body, composed of individuals with responsibility and expertise in the health professions, medical education and evaluation, and medical practice, National Board test committee representatives, and representatives of national professional organizations and the public. The quarter of the National Board members represented by other organizations includes individuals from the US Air Force, Army, Navy, Public Health Service, and Veterans Affairs, the Federation of State Medical Boards, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the American Board of Medical Specialties, the American Medical Association, the Council of Medical Specialty Societies, the American Medical Student Association, the Student National Medical Association, and the American Medical Association - Resident Physicians Section.

i"ll cut the official crap & come to the point...

for international med. grads,NBME is a series of exams tht the IMGs can take,ideally 15-20 days before the actual USMLE exams to assess one"s prep for the real deal.

ITS THE CLOSEST THING TO THE UMLE EXAMS IN TERMS OF THE LEVEL OF QUES. & EXPECTED SCORE THT U"D SCORE IN USMLE .

thts all tht we need to konw bout the exams.

the olny prob is the practice exams are quite expensive.....25$ for 200 mcqs exam thts bout 2000 bucks for 200 mcqs.

thts my 2 cents!

hello guyz,

so, i'm planning to take the exam!i'm juss wanna know , how efficiently i'm preparing ?i always think theres some amount of lacunae in my preparation, hope NBME brings out that!
behavs sucks yaar! apart from Pharmacology n they send me a chill even in this hot february

wat u say abt this? any suggestions?

well interesting spicy discussion over the intellectual level here ....

as regards NBME practice test is concerned i think it gauges the preparation in a better way..though i've hardly heard any of my friends taking it... still whatever reviews i've read i think it's a good parameter of prep. for USMLE exams....

hence go for it anytime......

hopefully this time we may have the first time info from the test taker..
