Hello all.

Could anyone comment on the chances of a fresh graduate (MBBS) from India in getting a position in FY 1 programme. I havent done the house job / internship. Is it very hard to get a place in FY 1 as well.

What can one do to improve his chances of getting into FY 1 programme?

Which deanery is the eastiest to get into?

In their the MMC form it asks about academic achievements and extra curricular activities. Do clinical attachments and research count as academic achievemnts.?

Hi im a fresh graduate from India who got the FY1 post and I think there are chances for Fresh Graduates from Overseas to get into foundation.One of my friends from India also got the post.

Thanks for your reply. What are the MMC guys looking for when assessing an application. I mean question like why is the deanery you put as your first choice indeed your first choice. For an over seas student. That would be a toughie.

And when is th last date of submitting the form. Is it in August as well or can you do that by Decmber as per last year proceedings.
Also just for the sake of info can you give the addresses of the websites to keep an eye on.

Ithink it will be in december it may change thats why keep on checking as from October this year...then the results are usually out by january - february ..then phase two starts ...to match thosse who havent got a place and then clearing takes place in Summer....

Hi sodda,I stay in westmidlands so I applied to the Westmidlands Deanery.The next placements for August 2007 will start in October and for us the dead line was till December 5.I think they assess the students basing on the application form.My friend applied to north western daenery as she stays in Manchester n luckily she got a placement in that Daenery.If u have anymore queries u can get back to me.

in which yr did u did u graduate in india? also when did u take ur PLAB2 ?

pls let me know the process how u applied for the post . how u got ur PIN , how did u complete ur person specification as it requires a lot of info on leadership qualities and etc. etc.

also let me know if u have any knowledge on unfilled posts for aug 2006 in ur deanery or elsewhere.

HI J_P,I COMPLETED MY FINAL YEAR MBBS IN DEC 2004 N WRITTEN PLAB 2 ON NOV 17,2005.I EMAILED THE GMC(THE EMAIL ADDRESS IS PROVIDED ON NEWDOCTOR WEBSITE FOR OVERSEAS DOCS) FOR THE ELIGIBILITY LETTER FOR F1.THE GMC SENT ME A FORM TO FILL,IN WHICH I HAD TO STATE WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING AFTER MY FINAL MBBS.(FOR ANY GAPS OR ATTACHMENTS OR ANY OTHER WORK)
I SUBMITTED THAT LETTER N AFTER VARIFYING THEY SENT ANOTHER LETTER TO CONFIRM WHETHER I HAV DONE INTERNSHIP OR NOT AND THIS LETTER HAS 2 BE SIGNED BY REGISTRAR OF UR MEDICAL UNIVERSITY(INDIA).AFTER VARIFYING THEY GAVE ME THE ELIGIBILITY LETTER.
THERE IS A ANOTHER FORM ON NEWDOCTOR WEBSITE WHICH U HAV GET SIGNED BY UR MEDICAL SCHOOL DEAN.
THESE TWO FORMS SHOULD BE POSTED TO MDAP,WEST MIDLANDS.THEY WILL GIVE U THE PIN AND PASSWORD BY WHICH U CAN Sign In THE NEWDOCTORS SITE AND APPLY.
HOPE I DIDNT CONFUSE U.
I COULD NOT FIND UR EMAIL ADDRESS.
HOPE I CLEARED UR DOUBTS.
