hey doc_rahul,,........ there isnt a way which is quarantees success, ........ and theres no way one could quarantee to bring failure.
so u can definitely study alone and still get rank 1. many people had studied in a group last yr, got satisfactory results, hence would be suggesting this method to others,........ but at the same time there are many people i know who had studied alone and still got better rank than me. even talking about my study group, not all people got good ranks and not all people passed.does that mean group study actually harmed them more,....? the point is ,........ may things togather go on to make what happens eventually. study group can be a part of it, but alone it cant be the decisive factor.had some of those colleagues got a good rank, they too would have considered study group to have made a difference, so thats it,..............
what i think is that 1 yr is a boringly long time , and to spend this time effectively and enjoyingly, group study really helps. also helps to retain more things in shorter time.
but then if u are comfortable reading alone,or unable to find a group, its absolutely ok. dont feel u are on the wrong way.

thanks Rahul for posting this question , I am also in the habbit of staying alone & was in the same dilemma. The more advices we take, more & more doubts creeping up in mind , But any way I have decided to go for it all alone. Let us see what we feel in the end.

There is nothing like a group study guarentees you success .. i read all alone till now incld my mbbs days.
as one of the earlier post said , the group can be a 2 edged sword it can actually harm you if you dont find the right ppl to get along with studies . its very imp to find a group that fits into your requirements to get away from the boredom of studying.
if you have always been reading on your own , i wuld advise you not to change tracks now coz it will take time to change / adapt to new system of reading .
each one's method of studies is very different and it depends on how effective you make it.
all the best

hi,
i'm glad this q came up.. personally i've never studied with a group.. But all my seniors kept telling me grp study is a must.. but i beg to differ.
I've know a handful of friends who worked all alone n cracked AIPGE
. n its DEFINITELY not impossible.
but yes .. a grp helps u keep focused n motivates u wen u r down.. or esp in those phases during the 365days wen things start (if only temporarily) to look bleak
So go ahead.. keep in touch with rxpg.. this factor atleast gets taken care of...
Best of luk.

I studied alone and still managed to crack AIPGME06. so i guess anybody can do it. just keep giving tests atlest once in every 2 weeks in the last 4 months of preparation. i gave weekly tests from august till january. this way you can make up for group study.
group study for me is summarised as " ek me min min, do me path, teen me chakari , char me haat " meaning ....as the number of study partners increases you stup studying and take too many breaks and indulge in gossip.
it is really very difficult to find a person of the same caliber as youself. those who are weak will pull you down , slow your pace. those who are better will try to skim through the portions that they know best.
so for me studying alone was best. and i can be done.
