Hi,
I have joined MD Micro this year. I too had the same dilemma. If you are the kind who is interested in a general practice after MD, go for Pharm. It is a volatile and dry subject.
If you are interested in going abroad/staying here in the research side, and not interested in a general practice, you can go for Micro. There is absolutely no difference in the salary between both subjects, either in Government or private medical colleges in India.

Hi,
I don't think you need to regret for having joined Micro.. Arrange your priorities and work accordingly.. The prospects are good in the research sector, especially if you are willing to go for a PhD later. All the best.

Hi,
I agree that the 'famous an mightier' colleges do have an edge over the others.. But that does not mean that the students from other colleges have an unfortunate and less privileged future. The theory is good only for engineers.. and not for doctors.
So, don't worry about the geographical location of the college, unless for personal reasons.. Doctors with stuff can survive anywhere, once you have the requisite degree!! All the best.
