Hi guys, I am from Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner, Rajasthan .

BIKANER: Its a desert city, about 450 km from delhi, well connected with other places. Direct trains to distant places like Kolkata, Bangalore, Guwahati, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhatinda etc. No airlines though as yet. Yes, contrary to popular belief no shortage of water and electricity relative to other places.

Popular tourist destination specially famous for Bhujia, Papad, Sweets, Wool industry. Camel festival, Deshnoke temple (chuhon wala mandir) or Rat temple and lots of other world famous places to see.

LANGUAGES SPOKEN: Marwari (Rajasthani), Hindi, Punjabi

PROS:
1. Simple, small town, simple people.
2. College of good repute
3. Teaching is good
4. Get ample time to prepare for DM alongwith PG
5. Patient inflow average
6. Attached PBM hospital is the largest in the region.
7. Have superspeciality deptts like Cardiology (with angioplasty facility), Gastroenterology, Neurology, Nephrology. They are small but do offer some exposure.
8. Attitude towards outsiders- VERY good, no discriminations whatsoever
9. Very big and spacious hospital, with 5 units in medicine.

CONS:
1. Some people find the city too boring cos very few hangout places
2. Desert area so, summers are really hot and pretty dusty
3. Variety of patients is not too good, just average
4. No DM seats as yet

I did my MBBS from SPMC Bikaner.UG is fine here with good %of pg selection.but as far as MD Medicine is concerned except one unit rest r disastrous.if u hav other option dont go for it.but d brighter side as a resident u'ii hav a iot of time to play badminton in evening||||||||||

Hi, i have done my MBBS from there. I wouid suggest itis a place where book worms with less extrovrtness shouid only opt.u will get only degree but not active clinical exposure n forward outlook in life.infrastructure of college,hospital and hostels are worst.it is a cool calm place with zero progress.
