Quick Scroll MS-Orthopaedics: Baroda Medical College, Gujarat 02.25.06 (2 years ago) #1

heres something about orthopaedics in medical college, baroda.

3 units (A,B,C,), all of them overflowing with patients all round the year. its so hectic for residents, that only the fittest survive. take for example last yr., half of the residents from aipge fled away with one reason of the other,, and 2 people from our college (who had entered thru local merit) changed their branches in reshuffling as they could not cope up.
but that should not worry someone who is really intereseted in orthopaedics .,.... bcos i have seen some temperamentaly really cool people come out of it smiling. so depends on u. be prepared for it and then it would be easier.

some yrs back , the orthopaedics deptt. here was notorious for harassment,... esp to outsiders. but now things have subdued to a large extent, as the notorious people have passed out. so these things should not be a matter of concern.

the experience one get here is tremendous bcos of huge pt inflow. faculty is quite good.

but anyone taking orthopaedics should be prepared for the 1st yr residency, bcos they would be on the roller coaster from the day 1 of their entry and that would only end when juniors come out next yr.

stipend - 8500,9500,10500.

hey gray_skull,........ dont worry about 'outsiders and insiders' affairs,....... that really wont matter ,......... u wont be prejudiced for that,......... i guarantee that,....... bcos my best friend is in orthopaedics here,.......

only thing the residents are worreid about is that the candidate does not leave the course half way,....(ie after the local reshuffling is over),..... bcos that would mean that they will have to slog for one year more,........ so if they feel the somebody might leave midway,......... they harass him and ensure that he leaves before reshuffling ,....... so that they have someone genuine in the reshuffling to replace him,.........

so if u are genuinely interested in continuing,......... u wont face any problems.,...

no idea about orthopaedics in other colleges,....... only that bj ahmedabad is much better in terms of exposure and experience,........
