normal distribution = bell shaped symmetry around mean

irrespective of value of mean and standard deviation- in a normal distribution 50% of values are on either side of mean. also total area of a standard deviation is one. so either side should be 0.5 each
but thats deduction did not find that per se in any book.
please mention source of question[/img]

The answer is 0.5. But that has not been given as one of the choices. The data given in the question have been added just to confuse and complicate things. Irrespective of the value of the mean and the SD , the area on either side of the mean is 0.5 as the area under the curve is 1.0 !
